Second Apparation of Our Lady to the Children

June 13th, 1917 was the second apparition of Our Lady to the children.

“In front of the palm of Our Lady’s right hand was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it. We understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary outraged, by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation.” (Lucia Dos Santos, Fatima and the First Saturdays, pg. 29)

On June 13, 1917, Our Lady appeared to the 3 children of Fatima. Our Lady held out her heart in her hand. The children understood this to mean that She was seeking reparation. By holding her heart, She emphasized what is most important to devotion to her Immaculate Heart: Reparation.

So, what does the Catholic Church say about reparation?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church #2487 teaches the following:
“Every offense committed against justice and truth entails the duty of reparation, even if its author has been forgiven. When it is impossible publicly to make reparation for a wrong, it must be made secretly...".

Can we make reparation to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart in the special way she asked us? This way is the First Saturdays

How to fulfill Our Lady’s request for the First Saturdays Devotion:

  1. Confession*
  2. Rosary*
  3. Reception of the Communion of reparation*
  4. The additional 15 minute Meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary in Our Lady’s company*
*should be done with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The Vatican has declared a Jubilee year for the apparition that revealed the First Saturdays devotion of reparation. The Jubilee year began on December 10, 2025 and will continue until December 10, 2026. It began on the 100th Anniversary of the apparition that took place in Pontevedra, Spain on December 10, 1925.
